Sein Gesicht hat in den USA die Frontseite von über hundert Tageszeitungen geziert, News-Anchor Dan Rather bebte vor Ergriffenheit die Stimme als er das Foto im TV präsentierte, CBS zerrte seine Mutter und Brüder vor die Kamera (infamy berichtete), aber James Blake Miller selber sagt zu dem Foto, das entstanden ist nachdem er zuvor grad 12 Stunden lang nonstop Irakis durch Fallujah gejagt hatte: "What the fuck...! I was just smokin' a cigarette and someone takes my picture and it all blows up." (OK, das "fuck" entspringt meiner Fantasie. Aber nur das.) Interessant auch die Aussage seiner (sehr stolzen) Mutter, laut CNN: Webber said her son's decision to join the Marines has changed the way she thinks about America. "Until my son went into the Marines, I never really realized what that flag stood for -- but now I do," she said. Der Zweideutigkeit ihrer Aussage war sich Frau Webber wohl nicht ganz bewusst... Was genau tut ihr Sohn derzeit? Mit vor Angst vollgepissten Hosen am anderen Ende der Welt auf Geheiss von ganz oben gleichaltrige Einheimische abknallen, die eigentlich mit ihm nicht das Geringste am Hut haben.
